About RMBC

Dr. K. Shaine Tyson, Executive Director, RMBC has been working to develop a commercial biodiesel industry in the United States since 1997. From February 1997 to May 2004 she directed the U.S. Department of Energy's Biodiesel Program at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory. For the last eight years she used her position and strategic business skills to work with the National Biodiesel Board, DOE, USDA, EPA, state agencies, and emerging developers to craft the growing industry we have today. Dr. Tyson knows most of the key players in the industry and government and has an extensive understanding of the biodiesel industry. She is familiar with many of the existing commercial technologies and has worked with some of the emerging technology providers as well. Her business background in energy and agricultural economics provides a sound grasp of agricultural and biodiesel production economics as well as the ability to strategically position biodiesel in the energy and petroleum world. In 2004, federal budget cuts forced the closure of the program at NREL. She now uses her experience and familiarity with the biodiesel industry to further commercial development.
